ArtsQuest Coming Up at Bismarck State College

The BSC Arts and Communi­cations Department sponsors ArtsQuest each school year. It is an annual celebration of music, art, theater, film and literature. ArtsQuest highlights the talents of BSC students and brings performances and presentations by renowned guest artists to campus and venues throughout the community

Next Belle Project Show features hot young talent

The Belle Project is gearing up for its next show on March 18 that will highlight local young talent in our region. Rock Bands performing include: Last Man Standing, National Debt, and Snakebite. Country singer and guitar­ist Brianna Helbling, Christian Sing­ing Sisters the Red Hots, and a special appearance by North Dakota wrestling legend and rapper Travis Lang.

Continental comes to Bismarck Feb 7th

Project Noise will be holding a fundraising event on February 7 at the Bismarck VFW, 1326 E. Broadway. They are raising money to open an all ages community venue in the future to support the growing local music scene.

Former lead singer of the punk/ska band Dropkick Murphys, Rick Barton, will be performing with his new band, Continental. Local rock favorites, The Vexed will also perform.

Tickets for Continental are just $8. The show starts at 8 p.m. It’s open to all ages.

Shake the Blahs with the Blues

Chicago blues greats, The Joe Moss Band, are set to return to the annual Winter Blues Party at the Bismarck Double­wood Inn on Sunday, January 15.

Joe Moss of the Joe Moss Band returns to the Doublewood Inn in Bismarck. January 15 for the Winter Blues Party.

Joe is a regular at Buddy Guy’s Leg­ends and House of Blues in Chicago and has recently been performing heavily on the East Coast. Moss got his big start touring Spain with Buddy Scott and recorded “Bad Ave.” with him as well. The record was released on Polygram’s Verve Gitane Blues label. Bluegrass Blizzard Blesses Bismarck

The seventh annual Blizzard Bluegrass Weekend will be held at Schafer Hall at Bis­marck State College on Friday and Saturday, January 6 and 7.

Concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. and will featureCottonwoodas well as other bluegrass bands and musicians. The Weed Picks fromThief River Falls,Minnesota, are the guest band this year.

Members of Cotton Wood include Lee Benjamin from Center on banjo, dobro, guitar and provides vocals; Keith Koch from Washburn, guitar and vocals; Dan Foster from Washburn, on mandolin, guitar and vocals; and Jill Wiese from north of Washburn, on bass, guitar and vocals.

The Blizzard Bluegrass Weekend is an extension of the bluegrass music played each summer at the Cross River Music Festival. In 2011, the Cross River Music Festival was postponed because of the flood. Blizzard Bluegrass Week­end will bring back bluegrass to many people who missed it this past summer.
