Celebrate Youth Art Month at Bismarck Dowtown Artists Cooperative.
Wild about animals with Melissa Gordon, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Learning to sketch a variety of animals using basic shapes will enhance student’s drawing skills. The class will also cover different techniques used to depict the many textures found in the animal world.
Fun with paint with Ali LaRock, 12:30 pm – 2 :30 p m. E xplore t he world of paint as you learn the basics as well as more adventurous brush, blending, and mixing techniques with watercolor and acrylic paint. Paint from your imagination and from reference materials.
Wood, foam & wire w ith Paul Noot, 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Students will look at the art of American artist Alexander Calder for inspiration. The class will glue, nail, twist, and cut various pieces of wood, foam and wire to design their art. The students will make Stabiles and Mobiles.
Red, yellow & blue with Paul Noot, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Piet Mondrian was a Dutch artist that created a series of paintings using grids, rectangles, primary colors and white and black. The painted windows in the Co-op were inspired by Mondrian. We will celebrate his March birthday by creating watercolor art inspired by the master.
Shades of grey with Melissa Gordon, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm This class will focus on drawing skulls and flowers in the style of Georgia O’Keefe using a 5 step value scale and charcoal pencils.
Bookmaking with Ali LaRock 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. Books come in many shapes and sizes. Learn how to create your own handmade soft cover, hardcover, and miniature books with a fun selection of materials. Transform them into works of art both inside and out!
I love letters! with Melissa Gordon 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm There are many ways to express yourself using creative lettering techniques including calligraphy, 3-D letters and pictograms. We will learn a basic calligraphy alphabet that students can use with Bookmaking project!
Drawing cartoon faces with Austin Schmaltz at 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm Learn fun and simple techniques with a variety of materials on how to draw cartoon faces and portraits from a professional caricature artist.
Celebrate Youth Art Month At BDAC! For Grades 1-6 each class is $20 or 3 for $50. Pay with cash or check at time of class. Sign up by emailing name of class attending, student name, and parent or guardian contact info to firstname.lastname@example.org Students are welcome to stay over lunch break and will be supervised.
