“Blessed Assurance” Coming to Bismarck in May

Dakota Stage Ltd. is pleased to welcome North Dakota State University Associate Professor of Acting, Hardy Koenig, in the original one man show “Blessed Assurance” by Steve Willis and Allan Gurganus.

The special presentation of this outstanding new American drama is a must see examination of America’s history and peoples’ hopes for the future.

“Blessed Assurance” is the touching tale of Jerry who put himself through college to build his comfortable retirement by selling funeral insurance to blacks in North Carolina. Now in his 60’s, Jerry is having trouble sleeping as he considers his checkered past. By recounting his journey, Jerry attempts to purge his feelings of guilt and shame through confession leading to personal growth, understanding, redemption and acceptance.

Koenig’s portrayal of Jerry in “Blessed Assurance” is truly mesmerizing. He so inhabits the character that the audience will live every moment with him. It is a story that needs to be heard by all and his performance should not be missed.

Dakota Stage Ltd. will present “Blessed Assurance” at 412 E Main Ave. in Bismarck. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 19 and 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 20. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and are available at the door one hour prior to show time.
