Free Farm Food Safety Audit Field Trip

Farmers, school food service directors, health department officials and the general public are invited to be a part of a farm food safety audit 1-5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at Eden McLeod’s Farm,, 84 11th St NW McClusky ND. This field tour is FREE and open to the public.

Keith Knudson from the Entrepreneurial Center for Horticulture at Dakota Community College in Bottineau and Sue Balcom, FARRMS North Dakota Farm to School State Lead will guide the field trip attendees through Eden McLeod’s Farm on a self-audit for farm food safety.

Participants will engage in an actual audit and a panel discussion on food safety issues will follow. This invaluable field tour is open to anyone involved in the purchase of food from farmers and the farmers direct marketing their products.

McLeod has completed a farm food safety plan and certificate through a one-day training sponsored by FARRMS. Driving directions to the McLeon Farm from Hwy. 200 East of McClusky are:

  1. Turn right at R&H motel and travel six miles north to 11th St NE.
  2. Turn left on 11th St NE (gravel) and travel six miles.
  3. Turn l eft and t ravel less t han 1/4 mile to a cedar and hunter green trailer house.
