About the Prairie Independent

The Prairie Independent is Bismarck-Mandan’s premier free alternative newspaper. Covering politics, art, and music since January 2007, the Prairie Independent is available at over 250 area locations. The community newspaper is published by the North Dakota Center for the Public Good, a non-profit dedicated to social and economic justice.

The Prairie Independent is written, edited, and distributed by volunteers, and all proceeds from advertising sales go back into the newspaper.
